the Inexplicable. We always recognize the Inexplicable as part of our existence (and its sense?). While the unknown and the unpredictable threat (residual risk) of a nuclear catastrophe sets off great fear for life, in art the as yet unknown, suspected or intuitively presumed is in fact demanded by the artist. Residual Risk - in art, the freedom of the irrational. Residual Risk – Freedom. For art, it is exactly this residual risk which is a key element to its potential: unpredictablility, unrepeatability, unfinishedness, inexplicability. Art, the artist = residual risk: idea is currency. Freedom its wealth.
Residual Risk can be seen as a dimension of technical investment, the unfinishedness of human perception/consciousness and of a concept of living areas of transition. All three elements have one thing in common: Residual Risk happens unforeseen in time and space, its area of effect is incalculably large or small and it has at its disposal a potential inaccessible to man.
