The monochords are+++

distributed throughout the room, at ear, hip and floor height.
They are strung on either side with between 30 and 39 strings.
Seven acoustic bowls move back and forth, each of them on a monochord.
The strings on each monochord are tuned to the same pitch.
This pitch is different for each monochord.
The overall result is a heptatonic modal scale.
Three performers impart motion to the acoustic bowls on the monochords' strings, which then fade away before being silently pushed once more.

The noise of the monochords is not amplified in the room.

A monochord's strings only swing because an impulse has disturbed them from their equilibrium. They swing in a single-minded effort to return to equilibrium, and this is the sole way that their music is born. Music does not just / only / simply exist, but lives in its very evanescence. Music is transience.
